Our research shows that we kill >95% of the Varroa offsprings with each treatment without harming bees. Throughout the year, the repeated treatments will control your mite levels below critical thresholds.
Please bear in mind that as a caring beekeeper, you should always monitor your colony’s health status and mite levels.
-
Yes. Heat treatment is only applied to brood cells. The hive maintains its normal climate and the queen, adult workers and drones will not be affected.
-
It is extremely unlikely that Varroa will develop resistance against heat treatment. The relevant heat-shock proteins (also called chaperones) have not seen major modifications over the last few thousands of years.
It is a fair estimate to say that for as long as you live, you don’t have to worry about potential resistance.

Lifehive is compatible with your existing beekeeping gear. We use standard Langstroth dimensions, e.g. you can put your honey supers or your Flow Hive super on top of a Lifehive brood chamber.
It is also possible to draw out heatable frames in standard boxes, and vice versa to put standard frames into the Lifehive brood chamber.
If you are still unsure, please check our specifications.
-
Lifehive works best, if the whole brood nest is covered by heatable frames. That is why we ship Lifehive including 7 heatable frames, leaving you space to place 2 to 3 standard frames (e.g. feeding frames) aside your brood nest.
-
Lifehive comes ready to use. Get your frames drawn out by the bees, plug the solar panel, push the button and off you go.
Lifehive is designed to work maintenance-free and has been demonstrated on large farms.
-
Drawing out frames works best when there is sufficient food. Honey flow is a great time to get your foundations built, but you can also feed your bees to speed up the process.
